Art Oriented Development

+

In collaboration with our partners Urban Col.labs, Art Oriented Development (AOD) places art at the centre of urban design and planning. Where Transit Oriented Development organises places around accessibility and sustainability, AOD treats artistic expression as the element that shapes and inspires space through public art installations, artistically designed amenities, and architecture with artistry built into it. Used strategically, these elements enhance the social and cultural life of a city, deepening the connection between people and the places they move through every day, while driving aesthetic appeal, community engagement, and economic growth.

We work at the forefront of this movement as consultants, designers, and analysts to cities, developers, and institutions delivering projects internally or alongside our network of partners. Our expertise spans art curation, public art, and urban planning, which allows the team to bridge aesthetic ambition and the practical demands of development. We lead AOD strategic planning and policy advisory from the earliest stages, consult on integrating art into architecture and infrastructure, and design public art programmes end to end, from artist selection and commissioning through to installation, project management, and custom fabrication. Alongside this, we develop branding and identity strategies, facilitate collaboration between planners, developers, artists, and communities, run educational and outreach initiatives, and assess the economic, cultural, and social impact of art in urban development.
